The Capybara is a semi aquatic mammal native to South America and is the largest living rodent in the world. It inhabits savannas, dense forests and lives near bodies of water. Capybaras are herbivores, grazing mainly on grasses and aquatic plants, fruit and tree bark. They are a highly social species and can be found in groups as large as 100, but usually live in groups of 10–20 individuals. With an average lifespan of 10 years, the species is considered not threatened at this time.
